Hi family!
So - I had my last days in Varaždin and then on Wednesday we took a train down to Zagreb (and played Phase 10 on the way, which was really fun) and I met up with my new companion, Sister Nelson, and we caught a bus and arrived in Zadar! It took all day, so when we got to Zadar I just unpacked and stuff.
The drive down was so beautiful, a lot more green and mountainous than I was expecting, like real mountains, and Zadar is also more green than I thought. For some reason when I was thinking that it would be so hot here and everything, I was picturing a desert the whole time, but it's by the ocean so it's green and yesterday we walked a trail along the ocean contacting people and it was really pretty. Smelly though, lol. Silly of me to be picky about that, but it's really smelly when we walk by the water.
And every day since then has been pretty regular. There are four Elders here that serve with us - Elders Babcock, Allsop, Rhodes, and Lifferth. And the branch is bigger! I spoke in church yesterday and we had 27 people! Including missionaries, investigators, members, and visitors. It felt so loud. The most we ever had in Varaždin was 10-12, I think. So it was loud and a little hectic for me, but very cool. And when I was speaking, I was telling a story about how when I read the Book of Mormon through for the first time I was 16, but I said kad sam imala šestdeset godina, which means when I had 60 years! I didn't even notice until Sister Nelson told me after that I said that! It was really funny. Numbers are not my thing when it comes to foreign languages, I had a hard time with them in my French class, too.
And I had an interview with President Hill on Friday, we have them about once a transfer, which means that he brought the mail down from Slovenia with him and I got my package! Thank you SO much, Mom! It was so fun to get and I love the shirts you picked out for me! They are so cute! It's just what I needed to spruce up my wardrobe. And I definitely needed some things to wear in the warmer weather, too, because it's definitely hotter here than in Varaždin. It's so fun here in Zadar! I'm really loving it! And thanks for the sandals, they fit well and I figured out the straps, I think. And it means that i don't have to wear nylons in the heat! And for the conference Ensign and all of that.
Sister Nelson and me do young women's here, on Saturdays, which is going to be fun, and also on Sunday we had a family from Zagreb visiting us - they come for the summer - so we got to do Primary with them! They have two little girls and they are so cute, it's like having nieces here, kinda. Not really, but kinda. It's good to see little kids because I haven't really so far. I really like having Sister Nelson as a companion, she's from Provo, big family, and like I said she's only been out two months longer than I have so neither of us - she's definitely better at the language, but neither of us know a ton so we're learning from each other and a lot and I think this transfer is going to be so good.
Today, we're catching a ferry to an island called Uglijan, which will be fun and so I'll probably send you some pictures next week. Oh Dad asked what "itd." meant: it stands for "i tako dalje" which means etc. Literally it means "and so forth." So it's like etc.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that Roger Federer is dead. The car, not the guy playing in Wimbledon right now, lol. I guess no one could take care of him like I could. So sad. And Dad told me a little bit about how Wimbledon is going, thank you! I love hearing about tennis, I wish I heard more. Mostly here we hear about the World Cup. Croatia didn't qualify for it or anything, but Slovenia did and then didn't move on, or something, I'm not sure, but I heard that Slovenia and Serbia were both out. But everyone here is still watching. O
h and Mom mentioned something about Justin and someone trying to start a business, but no one told me anything about the business, what is happening with all of that?? Today was the first time any of you have mentioned it. I'm glad to hear that everyone is seeing everyone a lot and that Kelsey's birthday went well, I can't wait for next Monday to hear about Baby Sophie, what's her middle name going to be? I can't remember if someone told me. And I'm happy that Amelia gets to come out and visit with everyone.
I hope the week is good for everyone!
Čujemo se! (We'll hear from each other :D)
Love you!

Hi Family!
First and most exciting news first!! Transfers! I am going to Zadar! From what everyone tells me it is the best place to serve. It's right on the coast, really hot, the best ice-cream in the mission, sea breeze, lots of fun p-day activities like ferry rides to islands itd, klappa groups serenading us, and it will be awesome! I think most of the stuff I looked up before I came here was describing that part of Croatia. It will be so cool! I leave for that on Wednesday. Sister Whitaker is staying here in Varaždin and she's doing fine, the whole seizure thing was a probably one-time thing. She hasn't been sick or anything since then. And my new companion, who I will meet up with in Zagreb, is going to be Sister Nelson, from Provo, Utah. I've met her at Zone Conference before and she is really nice, she's a hard worker, and she's been out here two months longer than me. So the language part of the whole thing is going to be fun and exciting. An adventure, to say the least. But she knows a lot more than I do already, so we'll get along just fine. It's going to be AWESOME.
Oh and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Sorry I forgot about it last week, the holidays are different here and June is just flying by. They should let us call for Father's Day like they do for Mother's Day, but they don't, so there was no talking with family happening yesterday. And Happy Birthday to Kelsey on Saturday! I don't want to point it out, but you're turning 30 this year. That's pretty crazy to think about.
Other than that, nothing interesting has happened. Regular week. We had our last English classes for this transfer, and an activity for our English students on Friday, I spoke in church on Sunday. And I was originally just going to give my testimony, because I'm leaving, but Elder Brown called on Saturday night, at about 9 o'clock, and said that one of the speakers was maybe not coming because of something, so would I prepare something a little longer -- so I basically wrote a talk Saturday night/Sunday morning. It went alright. Oh, on Friday we ate at a restaurant called Zlatne Ruke, which was really good. They gave us a free appetizer thing that was really really good. I don't know how to describe it. We ate it with bread, so I guess it was some type of sandwich mix thing. It had green peppers in it that tasted really good.
Today we want to go around Varaždin and take pictures of everything, since it's my last p-day here, but it's been raining and cold cold cold, for the last 3-4 days or more, and so we'll see. I don't know how it can be freezing when it's the end of June, and supposed to be summer already! But oh well. Glad to hear that everyone is doing good!
Love you,
Sister Laws
Here are some pictures. The castle is Trakoščan. Me and Sister Whitaker are on the train to Zagreb for zone conference. The four of us are at Trakoščan. And the last one is of me at the graveyard! Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Austin!
Hi family,
How's it going? Business first:
Michael, which e-mail are you using? Because Mom told me your new one, but you wrote me from your old one, and now I'm not sure.
Mother, a heel strap sounds fine. That would probably be best. Since you haven't sent the package that I've been anxiously awaiting, I wonder if you could send me a purse of some sort. I packed my purses in that gray bag, I have no idea what happened to it, and I'm not sure if they're all in there. The one I was thinking of is the really small blue one, that I used a lot, that is really small. If you can't find it then don't worry about it, I've been meaning to buy one, so I have something to use on p-days instead of my backpack, so I will do that if you can't find my purses or don't feel like looking.
Kelsey, I saw that Austin was reading Harry Potter. What!? That is so bizarre! It looked like he was on number 4 at least! How time flies. I cannot believe that he is 9, and I'm sure you cannot believe it even more than me.
Oh, and Mom asked me if I'd met Cody Fowler, a lady she works with is friends with him somehow. Yes, I met him. He is serving in Slovenia, he's the zone leader there, and he came down to Varaždin to have an exchange with the Elders here. He's nice.
And now: the news: Last p-day we went to the town cemetary and took pictures, we heard from one of our English students that we HAD to go see it because it was so historical, but it was not extremely exciting. The longest-ago date was someone born in 1777. The front was a lot cooler it had statues and stuff, the back was really modern and boring. Oh, I'll probably send some pictures next week, I don't have the right cord this week. Tuesday was nothing special or Wednesday. Or Thursday. On Friday, we had district lunch. We went to the Mexican restaurant that we've been to once before. It was good, but Sister Whitaker wasn't feeling well and so we left a little early and kind of in a hurry, so I didn't finish my food. And when we were walking home we didn't get very far before she got dizzy and had to sit down. And so I was just hanging out and I looked over and Sister Whitaker was having a seizure!! Not a big one, no frothing at the mouth or jerking-head, but her arms were jerking a little and her eyes were rolled back and it was, to say the least, a little scary. She came out of it quickly, and we called Sister Hill, the mission president's wife, and she called the doctor and we didn't have to go to the hospital or anything. Sis. Whitaker has passed out a little in the past and the doc said because of the heat and everything that the seizure was just a side-effect type of thing. Nothing serious. Nothing contagious. But we still spent the day indoors so she could rest itd. So.
On Saturday we went down to Zagreb for zone conference. It was extremely good. We had a Seventy visiting us, Elder Sterri from Finland, and it was fun. We stayed the night - all the sisters stayed in one place, it was fun to get to know them better! - because we had district conference on Sunday, which is our stake conference, since we don't have any stakes here. So all the missionaries stayed for that, too, and lots of members came from all over Croatia, and we had Elder Sterri speak to us there, too, and we went to two sessions, because they had a leadership session after the regular one that we were invited to, so we didn't get home to Varaždin until it was late. But it was really good, I wish I had my notes with me and I would tell you some of the stuff he told us. Like from Alma 32 on faith. That was good. We only read two versus, but there was a lot in them.
Today, this morning/afternoon, we went to Trakoščan! It's a famous castle on a lake an hour away from here. Very very pretty. And the inside of it is a museum, which is really cool. We just bought tickets to go in and then walked around, they don't have tour-guides or anything, so we went at our own pace and found a hidden passageway in one of the rooms. It wasn't very hidden, and it wasn't really a passageway, it was more like an attic, but it was still really cool. And I took lots of pics. It made me tired because of the sun, it's been so nice and sunny the last week! And that's it.
Next week is transfers, so by next P-day I will know whether or not I am staying in Varaždin and if Sister Whitaker will still be my companion. It's fun, we have a lot of transfers hype because a lot of the Elders are into making predictions about where people will go, and I tried it out, I doubt I got anything right, though. So it will be fun to see! But we don't have any new missionaries coming this transfer, next transfer we will, though. So that's for sure everything I can think of!
Hope everyone has a good week, can't wait to hear when Kelsey has her baby, and how everyone is doing.
Love you,
Sister Laws

Dear Family,
I'm sorry to hear that Grandma Dot passed away. Wish I had gotten to know her better. She was a good grandmother.
I can't really believe that it's June.
I had exchanges this week. Unusual for sisters to have exchanges, but we do sometimes. Sister Fitzsimmons came from Zagreb, and Sister Whitaker went there with Sister Dillender, and so I stayed here in Varaždin with Sis. Fitzsimmons. She's from Finland. Her English is good. So anyway, we had a good day, and it started raining SO hard. It was awesome. And then as of Saturday, we've had good weather! Yay! I love the summer! I'm so glad that it's warm. I'm hot and sweaty and disgusting in a skirt, but I'm so glad it's warm. And my hair is finally long enough to put into a twisty braid again! Yes! I am trying super hard, but I can barely remember anything that I've done this week. Hm... on Friday I tried čevapčići, which is a good Croatian food. Oh, and on Sunday night, we went over to the Elder's apartment, because they live on the ground floor of a house, and it has a nice backyard, and the house is owned by a Croatian man, who is married to an English woman, and they have two twin girls that are 9, so we went over on Sunday night and had a barbecue with them. It was some good food, and they had Heinz ketchup. The ketchup here is so bad that I haven't even tried it, but we had Heinz, because they brought some with them from England. And it was so hard not to copy their English accent. And the one sister was at a friend's house most of the night, but the other one was there with us, and she was playing her pokemon game and asking Elder Brown to help her out, because apparently he's a pokemon nerd. And it was really fun to spend the splendid evening in their backyard eating good food.
And I cannot even believe that Robin Soderling beat Roger Federer. I am so glad that I wasn't there to see it. Unbelievable!
Oh yeah, how went the baby blessing for baby Jude? I mean, everyone said it was good, but I wouldn't mind maybe hearing some of the things that were said inside of it. But that's great that it went well. I saw some pictures on Kelsey's blog and Jesse is looking good. Hey Jesse! You look good, you didn't look like you just had a baby. :) And everyone else looked good, too.
Um, yeah.
Pretty sure that that is it.
I love you all,
Sister Laws

Dear Family,
How is everyone? Most exciting news is of course that Michael got home! So cool and bizarre. Why did he get home so late?? Did he leave here on Thursday, because I thought he left on Wednesday, did he have killer layovers or something? How are you doing with the time change? Nothing terribly exciting has happened here, except that we found out our mission boundaries changed, they took half our countries away so now my mission just covers Slovenia, Croatia, and Serbia. So nothing really changes because those are the only countries we have missionaries in anyhow. Still kinda crazy, though. English class has been going well except for this last week we've only had one student come both Tuesday and Thursday. Thanks for passing along the news about Lauren Laws, that's so cool that she's going on a mission and to Rome, too! We'll be neighbors! I'm glad that Michael is making Mom and Dad read scriptures and have family prayer, lol, I suggest having it in the mornings, too. My days go better when I have sincere personal studies in the mornings. It's a good way to start the day! Awesome that Jesse and baby get to spend the week in Idaho Falls, sounds like a party! And Panda Express in Idaho Falls also sounds very nice. Glad that Kelsey and fam were able to make it up, too, and spend a little bit of time. Sounds hectic and good. Happenings here: my landlady says hello :) and I got my visa in! It came really really fast. Sister Whitaker didn't get hers until her second transfer. Really nothing else exciting, we go tracting a lot, and its been raining cats and dogs, especially today. Last Monday we went to a members house for a FHE, they have a really cute little daughter. And Elder and Sister Thompson came up from Zagreb to take us out to lunch for fun. We ate at Domenico's, which is a good pizza place. Oh and on Wednesday we went to a member's house, she lives about 20 minutes away and has a 6-month old baby, and the views from her house are insanely beautiful! I'll attach a picture. So pretty. Yesterday we made tacos for lunch, and we made our own tortillas, and I got flour EVERYWHERE. It was fun. And that is for sure everything I can think of to tell you all about! Cool beans!
Love you bunches!
Sister Laws :D
I forgot the pictures! Here you go!

And I forgot the funniest story from this week! So every Friday we have District lunch, and we go out to a new place with the Elders, so we have district unity itd. And this week was Sister Whitaker's turn to pick, and she picked this place that has fresh fish on Fridays, that we pass when we walk to church. So I'm thinking if we're here because of the fish, I need to get fish. So I order the trout. And the picture of that fish on a plate is the fish that I got.

HAHAHA. Our waiter brought it out and Elder Nitta was like, is that what you were expecting?? And I was like, It's a fish... But it tasted fine and picking around the bones was a good challenge. I didn't know that fish's spines were like that.
Inaće!
That was funny and fun!
Love you still!
