June 21, 2010

Hi Family!
First and most exciting news first!! Transfers! I am going to Zadar! From what everyone tells me it is the best place to serve. It's right on the coast, really hot, the best ice-cream in the mission, sea breeze, lots of fun p-day activities like ferry rides to islands itd, klappa groups serenading us, and it will be awesome! I think most of the stuff I looked up before I came here was describing that part of Croatia. It will be so cool! I leave for that on Wednesday. Sister Whitaker is staying here in Varaždin and she's doing fine, the whole seizure thing was a probably one-time thing. She hasn't been sick or anything since then. And my new companion, who I will meet up with in Zagreb, is going to be Sister Nelson, from Provo, Utah. I've met her at Zone Conference before and she is really nice, she's a hard worker, and she's been out here two months longer than me. So the language part of the whole thing is going to be fun and exciting. An adventure, to say the least. But she knows a lot more than I do already, so we'll get along just fine. It's going to be AWESOME.
Oh and HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! Sorry I forgot about it last week, the holidays are different here and June is just flying by. They should let us call for Father's Day like they do for Mother's Day, but they don't, so there was no talking with family happening yesterday. And Happy Birthday to Kelsey on Saturday! I don't want to point it out, but you're turning 30 this year. That's pretty crazy to think about.
Other than that, nothing interesting has happened. Regular week. We had our last English classes for this transfer, and an activity for our English students on Friday, I spoke in church on Sunday. And I was originally just going to give my testimony, because I'm leaving, but Elder Brown called on Saturday night, at about 9 o'clock, and said that one of the speakers was maybe not coming because of something, so would I prepare something a little longer -- so I basically wrote a talk Saturday night/Sunday morning. It went alright. Oh, on Friday we ate at a restaurant called Zlatne Ruke, which was really good. They gave us a free appetizer thing that was really really good. I don't know how to describe it. We ate it with bread, so I guess it was some type of sandwich mix thing. It had green peppers in it that tasted really good.
Today we want to go around Varaždin and take pictures of everything, since it's my last p-day here, but it's been raining and cold cold cold, for the last 3-4 days or more, and so we'll see. I don't know how it can be freezing when it's the end of June, and supposed to be summer already! But oh well. Glad to hear that everyone is doing good!
Love you,
Sister Laws

Here are some pictures. The castle is Trakoščan. Me and Sister Whitaker are on the train to Zagreb for zone conference. The four of us are at Trakoščan. And the last one is of me at the graveyard! Enjoy!
